Are you on a desktop?
I drag & drop from Spotify, straight into the DJ Stack area.
Can you help me understand the need for building it in spotify, then hitting sync @modix ?
@ducksbergmusic I know that I can drag and drop and I don't like it, it's slow and cumbersome. It's very easy to build it in Spotify. I really like the feature to build a similar playlist based on my current playlist and then just send all tracks into the RVRB playlist.
@modix Thank you for explaining your use case to help me understand where you're coming from :)
here's my attempt at the user story to help the devs know what to build,
As a DJ who manages the DJ Stack live in Spotify Desktop primarily,
When I am 2nd in queue and am about to play my track,
I want Rvrb to "Get Latest Queue from Spotify" before playing my track,
So that Rvrb plays what I have at the top of my queue in Spotify (and not rvrb DJ stack top).
Consider: New user setting to enable/disable this feature per user. Something like "DJ Stack Source" : radio buttons: a) rvrb b) spotify
So for the OP use case, checking Spotify radio button would force that sync from Spotify during the "Play next song" function
@ducksbergmusic I don't think a setting is necessary. Whenever the RVRB playlist changes (through drag and drop or re-ordering) changes will be pushed to Spotify. If you then just pull from Spotify right before starting the next playback, nothing should change for people who manage only in RVRB.
In an ideal world, Spotify would also notify RVRB when the playlist is changed on their end to achieve full two way sync. I assume this is not possible, as Spotify does not provide a subscription API for a playlist. However the 2nd best option is to simply pull the playlist again before the next spin as stated above.
Thank you!
@ducksbergmusic @modix Best practice SaaS usability and UX design suggests most features should be configurable (at least on/off switch)
I would think having it Off by default is a good Dev/engineering best practice because, if you can optimize & reduce API calls, the more efficient your app is.
Considering you're the only user I've heard who has this issue, ie - most users are happy with drag & drop and in-app DJ Stack mangement - it seems excessive to switch this on by default.
:)
@ducksbergmusic absolutely agreed. An option makes sense to save resources when it's possible
